DAY TRIP
The Ourika valley: 60 km from Marrakech, it bears the name of the descending water source of the High Atlas, green with its Berber villages which hang from the mountains, in addition to its beautiful water huts and cool shade of fruit trees near the village of Setti Fadma. This valley is a favorite destination to escape the daytime heat of Marrakech. Here you can taste delicious regional dishes in several restaurants located on the river.
The Imlil Valley: First Imlil then Armed, offering new glimpses of the valley dominated by the steep slopes of the Toubkal Massif. Continuation then walk to the circus of Armed. A green bowl at the foot of the village of the same name, built entirely in red stones on an old bar of ice blocking the valley. The descent has a long torrent of Mizane then continues along the small irrigation path passing under the trees, to reach Targa Wimolay. Then, our walk ends in the village of Imlil, and we will meet our vehicles to go to Marrakech later in the day.
Kik Tray: Take a 4 × 4 car and a minibus to the Lalla Takerkouste dam, admiring the beautiful land constructions. We climb the mountains to see the Berber villages at an altitude of 1350m. We overlook the splendid Kik tray, rich in cereal crops and olive trees. Then we descend to the Asni valley, warm with its charming landscapes via the cave of Moulay Brahim and the road to the Atlas.
The Ouzoud waterfalls: the Ouzoud waterfalls are among the most beautiful sites in the High Atlas. The site is located about 154 km from Marrakech, northeast of the city. To access the Ouzoud waterfalls from Marrakech, take the exit leading to the road to Fez.
Village of Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou: the port of a desert life that centers around a ribbon of oases and Kasbahs. Ouarzazate offers a striking contrast with the north of Morocco. Its position at the crossroads of the Draa and the Dades makes it an easy starting point or a compulsory stopover for the roads leading to the south of Morocco. The infrastructure in terms of hotels and restaurants reflects this main role that they must play.
Essaouira: Departure at 8:00 am, after 2:30 am on the road to Essaouira where we drive in the middle of the argan forest. Arriving at the local women’s traditional argan oil extraction cooperative. Product for which Morocco holds the international monopoly. Visit of the cooperative, which allows to witness the manual extraction of oil by the women of the village. Continuation to Essaouira. Take photos at the entrance to the city in a panoramic location overlooking the entire city. Allow 2 hours to visit the city and the remains of the Portuguese port, a swim at the beach after lunch is strongly required. Return to Marrakech at the end of the day.
